ooc: Alright, ladies and gentlemen, once again the name of the game is character interaction! The setting is Titiania, of course~!
bic:
The thing about most forests, is that they tend to be rather intimidating places, being dark and filled with an unknown amount of horrific beasts. However, there are occasions where forests are peaceful, quiet, and have a multitude of open glades to pass through whilst traversing the immense flora. These glades are usually very good spaces to take shelter in for a night. Such was the glade that the group of adventurers had chosen to set up camp in. The night, as luck would have it, would prove to be uneventful, and they all slept soundly, under the pale moonlight, and ever-watchful stars.
Well, almost all of them.
Ed had, for the most part, adapted to both the perks and draw-backs of being a ghost. However, the one aspect that seemed to encompass a blessing and a curse was the lack of need for sleep. On one hand, this was nice, in that tiring out would be inconvenient. However, on the other hand, being the only one awake (and unseen, for that matter), while others rested was quite lonely. He had taken comfort in staring up at the stars, though, through it all, he certainly wished that there was someone to talk to (or- better yet-, that he wasn't dead at all).
Being lonely was a dreadful feeling. At the very least, the night was calm, and the sky beautiful to look at for as long as one would need to.

Anne was not sure what to think when she exited her tent for a breath of air and spotted a complete stranger sitting in the middle of the camp. At first she was terrified, but after watching him for a moment, she figured he couldn't be all that bad, the way he was staring up at the stars. After a quick debate with herself, she decided to talk with him.
"Um, excuse me," she whispered, flying up to be on the same level as his eyes. "What are you doing out here in the middle of the night? You realize this is a campground, right?"

Ed was understandably surprised by the current development of events. He had never seen an actual fairy before. Apparently, they were either incredibly rare, or didn't exist at all- according to most books, that is. Well, apparently, the first option was the truth.
"You can see me?" he asked (knowing full well that he was asking an obvious question, and yet not being able to help asking it anyway).

Anne sighed. He was probably just some crazy guy who thought he was invisible, for whatever reason.
"Yes, I can see you. Why wouldn't I?" She asked, wondering whether or not she should wake up Verge. She noticed the weird look he was giving her, but decided to ignore it for the time being. She was getting a bit sick of having to explain her fairy status.

He smiled wryly "well, miss, if you didn't notice the bloody hole in my chest earlier, I might as well point it out now." He adjusted his jacket, revealing the wound. "I'll have you draw your own conclusions there, but, the point is that I haven't been able to communicate with anyone for a long time...not even my sister." he added, his gaze falling to the ground for a moment, before quickly returning to the fairy. "I'm assuming you aren't exactly from around here, are ya?"

"Ah..." Anne murmured upon seeing Ed's wound. It was tough to look at, but looking away was even more difficult. "You've been shot? Or... Oh."
She had never once in her life suspected ghosts to be real. She had seen thousands upon thousands of the living pass through the realm where she lived, and it never occurred to her that a dead person might NOT ascend to higher planes.
Somehow, she managed to wrench her gaze from Ed's gunshot wound to the stars. "No, not from around here," she muttered. She couldn't stop herself from asking the obvious question, though. "Are you a ghost?!"

Ed chuckled a bit "it wasn't obvious before?" he said as he hid the wound again "I did something that could be counted as either very brave or very stupid, and this happened. For a man his age, Lo`ren is a damn good shot..." Out of habit, he reached for his cigarette packet, and found nothing. "dammit...old habits die hard I guess..." He decided to look at Anne a bit closer. "So...if you aren't from around here, where do you come from?"

"But... Why... Uh, never mind," Anne said, specifically looking at Ed's FACE and not the hole in his chest.
"Several years ago, I fell down from the heavens by mistake," Anne said, pointing up at the stars. "I'm sort of looking for a way back."
OOC: I'm sorry, but I gotta go to bed. G'night!

ooc: *yawns* same here, actually XP g'night to you too!
bic: "it's a long story, but the moral of it is to not take loans from possibly sociopathic crime bosses; and, if you do you should probably skip town ASAP, money or not. Naturally, I learn this after the fact." he said, the slightest hint of bitterness lacing his voice.
He looked up after her. "Heaven..." he murmured thoughtfully "is it nice up there? I mean, I've got some stuff to finish up down here first of all, but, ya know...I'm curious..."
All things considered, Ed couldn't help but wonder whether or not he could hitch a ride to the after-life with Anne. How did spirits pass on anyway? This whole ghost situation was terribly confusing. In all truth, it was simpler to focus on his business on the Earth.

"Yeah, it's pretty nice up there. There isn't much to worry about. Well, for most people," Anne said with more than a hint of bitterness. She scowled and let her gaze return to the stars, reflecting on her last few weeks at home. "Sorry. It's just... Eternity is kind of a scary thought, when you don't know how you want to spend it. I've known people who have completely shut down, who just sit around all day every day because they don't know what to do with themselves. I was afraid of becoming like that, and because I was trying to AVOID it, I fell out of the sky. Cruel irony."
Remembering herself, Anne sighed and turned back to Ed. "Ah, sorry again. You probably don't care that much. You've probably got a good afterlife ahead of you, if you do ever ascend."

"I'm sure I'll figure something out..." he mumbled, before returning his gaze to Anne. "Wait a second. You said you "fell", right? Can't you just- I dunno- fly back up, or something? Or are you just hanging 'round here for one reason or another?"
He looked over towards the camp again "Are you keeping an eye on someone?"

"It isn't that simple... First of all, even if this realm and my home were within a physical distance of each other, the journey would take years, for me to fly all the way there. But that's besides the point."
Anne took a moment to consider how to go about explaining this. It seemed like common sense to her, but she figured human beings and angelic beings didn't have the same pool of knowledge. "You see," she began, "Your planet is surrounded by an infinite space. I guess you call it 'outer space', and it goes on forever. This infinite space is actually linked to the heavenly realms, however. Going from this realm to the heavenly realms can only be accomplished through metaphysical means, like... Well, death. But, going from the heavenly realms to this realm is much simpler, because the heavenly realms aren't infinite. We're surrounded by gateways to other realms, and I just happened to fall into this one."
She took a deep breath as pause to make sure she had gotten it all right. "Proper angels and gods can ascend back through the gateways at will, but I'm just a lesser angel. I don't have that sort of power..."

Ed took a moment to let the information sink in, and nodded "fair enough. Physics, meta-physics, all that jazz...my only question now is why you stick with this specific group. I know, for one, that I'm here 'cause my sister's traveling with them." he paused a moment "But, I don't think you're tied to any specific person here, right?"

"I'm with Verge..." Anne said absentmindedly, studying Ed's face. "Oh! Are you Lizzie's brother? I think she's mentioned you a few times."

Ed smiled fondly at the sound of Lizzie's name. He found, all things considered, that he missed her terribly. He saw her a lot, true but, well... "Yeah....we haven't spoken in a while, obviously, but, I like keeping an eye on her. I'm happy she's doin' alright...and it's nice to know she still thinks of me from time to time." he added, a twinge of melancholy in his tone.
