Name: Edward "Ed" James Valentine
age: 27 (deceased)
hometown: New Chicago
relatives: parents Marie and Jonathon Valentine (deceased), and younger sister Lizzie (very much alive)
history and reason for travel:
After the untimely deaths of their parents, Ed took his little sister Lizzie under his wing, to care for, and ensure that neither of them got killed on the dangerous streets of New Chicago. Thankfully, he found a way to get a decent living, in the world of underground liquor operations.
In hindsight, it wasn't the best idea but, Ed at 21 was quote, "stupid enough and desperate enough" to believe that taking a loan from one of the big bosses of the city was a good idea, and that getting into their operations in order to pay it off was a better one.
Still, he managed, and believed Lizzie to be none-the-wiser.
After a few years, Ed managed to make a small name for himself in the world of bootlegging, and ran a humble, yet ultimately successful information trade.
However, after a loan gone bad, and a threat made on the only family he had left, Ed went to confront one of the biggest crime-bosses of New Chicago: "King" Richard Lo`ren
This went just as well as it could have, and Ed ended up shot and thrown into the river.
But, when your little sister's safety is still in question, it's pretty hard to rest in peace...
Personality:
Even in death, Ed continues to be very collected, analytical, and charming in conversation. However, when his defenses break down, he becomes extremely nervous and jumpy, in turn, finding it hard to keep up his calm persona.
Around close friends, he tends to get flustered easier.
He firmly believes in the adage "blood is thicker than water", and is, in turn, extremely protective of the people he cares about.
He also lets his emotions get the better of him often, especially when his family (blood or not) is involved. From this, he has the compulsive need to help anyone who asks for it, going to certain extremes to ensure that said person gets what they need, whether that be money, medical care, locating a lost one, or other such. They called him a bleeding heart in life, and, in death, it takes on a whole new meaning.
abilities:
passing through walls
invisibility (sadly, unavoidable, and unable to "turn-off")
ghostly floating
street smarts
knowledge of guns
"Valentine Silver Tongue" (which is pretty much useless at this point...)
